Most email programs are very similar. There might be a few differences, but for the most part these are general instructions that will work with most programs.

INSTRUCTION FOR OUTLOOK or OUTLOOK EXPRESS

With both Outlook and Express, you can decide weather or not you want to leave a copy of the email on the server. If you use either of these programs, they will download the email to your system. Leaving no emails on the server. Most people elect to leave a copy of their emails on the server for a period of at least 15 days, then the program deletes the emails automatically.

1. Open the program that you will be using to retrieve your emails. Choose to ADD A NEW E-MAIL ACCOUNT. Then click NEXT.

2. The next window you’ll choose what type of email account this is. Choose the POP3 Account, click next.

3. Fill in all the information required.
YOU’RE NAME: The name you want people to see when they receive an e-mail from you.
E-MAIL ADDRESS: Your actual email address.
INCOMING MAIL SERVER (POP3): mail.yourdomainname.com
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER (SMTP): mail.yourdomainname.com
USER NAME: is your email address, replace the @ sign with the + sign. Yourname+yourdomainname.com
PASSWORD: ***************
Check the remember password. Once you have the information filled in the “Test Account Settings” & “More Settings button will be accessible.

4. Click on the “MORE SETINGS” button.
GENERAL TAB: Name the Account. (Optional)
ORGANIZATION: Your Companies Name.
REPLY E-MAIL: Enter the email you want people to use to reply to your email.

Then Click on the Outgoing Server Tab.
|
 |
Check the “MY OUTGOING SERVER (SMTP) REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION”
Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.

On the “ADVANCED TAB” for the Outgoing server (SMTP) is set at 25, change this to be 26.
|
Then click OK!

Then click the “TEST ACCOUNT SETTINGS”
|

If there are any errors this window will tell you what they are, from here you can go back and correct the problem then retest the server till you have no more errors. The most common error is “USER NAME” Always use your full email address and replace the @ sign with the + (Plus) sign.
